Job summary

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of litigation experience.
  • Experience handling matters through multiple stages of litigation.
  • Strong deposition, discovery and motion practice experience.
  • Excellent legal writing and research skills.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Confidence communicating directly with clients.
  • The organizational ability to manage a busy caseload independently.

Compensation: $170,000 – $210,000 DOE

Practice Area: Labor & Employment / Employment Litigation

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Labor & Employment Associate to join the Tampa office of an established national law firm with a significant presence throughout the Southeast.

The firm operates through integrated national practice groups rather than isolated individual offices, giving attorneys the opportunity to work with colleagues and clients across its wider platform. Its client base includes substantial businesses operating across sectors including healthcare, financial services, telecommunications and energy.

The Role

This is a litigation-focused Labor & Employment position for an attorney capable of taking meaningful responsibility for their own matters while working alongside experienced partners on more complex disputes.

The workload will include:

  • Employer-side labor and employment litigation
  • Discrimination, retaliation and harassment claims
  • Wage and hour disputes
  • Drafting pleadings, motions and substantive legal memoranda
  • Managing written discovery and document production
  • Taking and defending depositions
  • Preparing matters for hearings, mediation and trial
  • Legal research and case strategy
  • Managing deadlines, dockets and competing matters
  • Working directly with clients throughout litigation
  • Supporting partners on complex or strategically significant disputes

The successful attorney will be expected to manage significant elements of litigation independently rather than operating purely in a supporting capacity.

You will ideally possess:

  • 4–6 years of litigation experience
  • Experience handling matters through multiple stages of litigation
  • Strong deposition, discovery and motion practice experience
  • Excellent legal writing and research skills
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Confidence communicating directly with clients
