Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Unit Service Coordinator to provide clerical support in the nursing unit, including reception, patient data collection, and assembling medical records. The role also involves assisting with patient admission and discharge and performing routine care tasks as required.

The successful candidate must be able to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and demonstrate strong English communication skills. A current BLS certification is required upon hire.

Qualifications

• Prior work administrative/clerical experience, preferably in a medical setting.
• Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (issued by the AHA).
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Understanding of medical terminology and Universal Precautions.
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform a broad range of clerical support functions in the nursing unit.
• Perform reception functions and collect/compile patient data.
• Assemble medical records and assist with patient admission/discharge.
• Perform routine patient care functions as needed and related duties.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, families and clinical staff.
