Job summary

Cambridge Health Alliance’s Cambridge Hospital Labor and Delivery unit seeks a Labor and Delivery Technician to maintain readiness to scrub for surgical procedures in L&D and ensure equipment and supplies are readily available. The L&D Tech ensures orderly ORs and smooth turnover while supporting a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, completion of a surgical technologist program, BLS and CST certifications, and at least 2 years of current surgical

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Certifications: American Heart Association BLS certification and CST certification required.
• Work Experience: Minimum 2 years current surgical technologist experience required

Responsibilities

• Maintains ongoing communication with L&D charge RN and keeps them informed if off the unit.
• Scrubs for cesarean sections and other procedures in L&D operating rooms (D&C, hysterectomy, etc.).
• Maintains aseptic technique and remains in the OR after room is opened per AORN standards.
• Sets up and breaks down operating room efficiently to expedite turnover.
• Checks equipment and supplies for current levels and replenishes as needed.
• Cleans shelves and cabinets in OR areas on a monthly basis and ensures scrub carts are stocked.
