Job summary

Marshall Medical Center in Placerville, CA, seeks a Perinatal Technician in Birth Center - Labor & Delivery. Front desk receptionist with duties spanning patient support, clerical tasks and scrubbing during cesarean sections.

Provides labor support as a trained doula and collaborates with the perinatal team under supervision of the Birth Center Charge Nurse. Requires high school diploma or equivalent; BLS certification; OR Tech/OB Tech coursework preferred.

Qualifications

• Medical terminology and clerical experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to read, write and communicate compassionately and effectively.
• Demonstrated competence with computers.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• The ability to respond to unit/hospital emergencies appropriately and timely.

Responsibilities

• Serve as front desk receptionist for the Birth Center and support staff as needed.
• Provide non-patient care and patient care activities under supervision of the Birth Center Charge Nurse.
• Assist with scrubbing during cesarean sections when trained.
• Act as a doula providing labor support and collaborate with the care team.
• Maintain professional relations with patients, visitors and staff; handle infectious materials safely.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

OR Tech/OB Tech course

BLS certification

Medical Assistant or CNA certification preferred
