Responsibilities

• Serve as front desk receptionist for the Birth Center and support staff as needed.
• Provide non-patient care and patient care activities under supervision of the Birth Center Charge Nurse.
• Assist with scrubbing during cesarean sections when trained.
• Act as a doula providing labor support and collaborate with the care team.
• Maintain professional relations with patients, visitors and staff; handle infectious materials safely.

Department:Birth Center - Labor & DeliveryShift:Variable (United States of America)Employee Type:Regular - Per DiemPer Diem Type (if applicable):Non-RN Per Diem 2Minimum Pay Range:$26.22 - $31.37Job Description:POSITION SUMMARYThe Perinatal Technician is a non-licensed member of the perinatal team and is responsible for a variety of non-patient care and patient care activities under the direction and supervision of the Birth Center Charge Nurse and medical staff in the Birth Center. This position is an ambassador of the department and serves as a front desk receptionist, provides clerical support, is trained to scrub during cesarean sections, acts as a doula providing labor support, and collaborates with other members of the patient care team to provide care in accordance with the medical plan of care. Maintains positive public relations by interacting with patients, visitors, physicians and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner. Ensures the safe handling of infectious materials to protect patients, visitors and employees at all times. Floats to other departments when staffing shortages occur to support organizational needs.POSITION QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Licensure/Certification:High school diploma or equivalent.Completion of an approved OR Tech/OB Tech course, preferred.
