Job summary

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse for full-time night shifts in Washington, DC. You will provide safe, evidence-based nursing care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period, supporting parents, and coordinating with OB and NICU colleagues.

Responsibilities include fetal monitoring, administering medications, assisting with deliveries, and educating families about newborn care and breastfeeding.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current and active RN license in the applicable state.
• BSN preferred.
• 1–2 years of Labor & Delivery experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required or obtained within designated timeframe.
• NRP certification required or obtained within designated timeframe.
• Fetal monitoring competency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients during labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum.
• Monitor maternal and fetal status with ongoing monitoring.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments.
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and obstetric procedures.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and escalate as needed.
• Educate patients and families on labor, pain management, newborn care, and breastfeeding.
• Support birth plans and ensure safe clinical outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessments and interventions.
• Collaborate with OB, NICU, surgical teams, and lactation consultants.
• Ensure compliance with policies and safety standards.
