Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Labor & Delivery Nurse for St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, NE. You will guide patients through labor, focusing on mother and baby safety with compassionate care.

Responsibilities include triage, labor support, newborn assessment, and coordination with the care team. Sign-on bonus up to $6,000 and educational assistance up to $10,000 are available for eligible hires.

Qualifications

• RN degree from an accredited nursing program.
• Active Nebraska RN license.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• NRP certification required within 6 months of hire.

• Support pregnant patients in labor including induction, epidural if needed, pain management and fetal monitoring.
• Educate patients on interventions, medications, exams and labor stages.
• Assess newborns and provide postnatal care.
• Communicate with the care team, including anesthesiologist, physician, patient and family.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Labor & Delivery Nurse at St. Francis Medical Center, you’ll guide patients through the labor and childbirth process, focusing on the safety of the mother and baby, with kindness and compassion.

Everyday you will be a part of the the recovery and postpartum which includes supporting families that are celebrating the arrival of a newborn and showing compassion and guidance during challenging moments.

To be successful in this role, you must remain calm and sensitive to help people through this huge milestones in their lives.

• Triage walk-ins to determine if a patient is in labor, water is broken, false alarm, etc.
• Support pregnant patients in labor including induction, epidural assistance (if needed), general pain management and fetal monitoring.
• Educate patients on various interventions or procedures, medications (name and purpose), exams, and labor stages.
• Assess newborns and provide care.
• Communicate with the care management team, including anesthesiologist, physician, patient and family.

We are offering up to $6,000 sign-on bonus and up to $10,000 educational assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Job Requirements

Required

• Graduate of an RN nursing program
• Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska.
• BLS through American Heart Association.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required within 6 months of hire

The Family Birth Center at St. Francis Medical Center is a 15 Labor, Delivery, Recover, and Postpartum Unit (single room maternity care). We are a Level II Perinatal Center and care for patients from antepartum, labor, deliver and postpartum including providing mother-baby care
