Job summary

OhioHealth seeks an experienced nursing leader to ensure delivery of evidence-based practice by professional nursing staff in designated areas. You will plan, organize, direct and evaluate unit-based patient care, guiding the care team with a focus on quality, safety, and fiscal responsibility.

The role emphasizes leadership, clinical management, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to advance the Nursing Philosophy in alignment with OhioHealth's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Manager in accountability for ongoing delivery of patient care in area(s) of responsibility; assures application of the nursing process by Registered Nurses in the clinical setting; ensures documentation of patient care in the medical record.
• Assists Manager with planning, assessing, implementing and evaluating patient care as appropriate to department/unit.
• Assists Manager with planning, reviewing and coordinating staffing time schedules and allocating staff for volume and patient care needs.
• Assists Manager to coordinate nursing care with other health care disciplines across the continuum of health care.
• Maintains daily unit operations including staffing status, patient visits and/or admissions, discharges and transfers.
• Participates in recruitment, selection, retention and evaluation of personnel; conducts performance appraisals and ensures orientation and ongoing education.
• Assists manager in planning and contributing to fiscal management of unit by utilizing resources efficiently.
• Practices as colleague with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to support collaborative clinical management.
• Contributes to staff development through orientation and continuing education; participates in learning needs assessment.
• Participates in data collection and use for quality and process improvement; provides leadership and clinical management through supervision and teaching.
• Supports hospital committees and governance activities; promotes culturally competent care and a safe working environment.
