Job summary

Texas Health Alliance is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for Labor & Delivery. The role supports perioperative care for a diverse patient population, with night shifts and a 36-hour weekly schedule.

Requirements include CST certification, OR experience, and BCLS/CPI training; multiple pathways are noted for certification and education. The facility offers extensive maternity and neonatal services and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; must have prior practice in surgical technology before 2009.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or military training in surgical tech required.
• CLIA compliance for foreign education equivalency required.
• 1 year current operating room experience preferred; labor and delivery experience preferred.
• CST certification NBSTSA or TS-C NCCT; or graduate of an accredited surgical tech program; or military training completion.
• CST employed to practice surgical technology before 2009; or military training completion.
• LVN upon hire acceptable.
• BCLS required and maintained quarterly before providing independent patient care.
• CPI training maintained annually; 90 days required.

Responsibilities

• Intra-operatively displays skills and behavior conducive to desirable outcomes.
• Assists in peri-operative care for patients across infant to older adult populations.
• Preoperatively assists RN circulator in formulating plan of care.
• Maintains professional accountability and supports care coordination peri-operatively.
• Assists RN circulator with post-operative duties; follows proper instrument, supply, and equipment care.
• Supports infection prevention to minimize infection risk and contamination.
• Supports safety by protecting patients from injury.
• Contributes to continuous improvement in quality, service, and cost efficiency.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate patient care across life stages.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent and prior employment in surgical technology before 2009

Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or military training in surgical technology

CLIA compliance for foreign education equivalency

CST certification NBSTSA or TS-C NCCT or military training equivalency

CST employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before 2009

CST graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology

LVN – Licensed Vocational Nurse upon hire

BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support maintained quarterly

CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training maintained annually
