The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking a Labor Counsel to provide expert legal advice on labor relations matters to senior staff and managers. The role involves representing the Authority in disciplinary cases, formulating litigation strategy, and advocating in administrative proceedings for the MTA and its agencies.

The position requires a J.D. and NY bar admission, with a minimum of six years of relevant experience in litigation or labor relations.

Competenze

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school and New York State bar admission.
• Minimum of 6 years of legal experience with emphasis on litigation and/or labor relations.
• Experience with arbitration, administrative tribunals, and related proceedings.

Mansioni

• Provide expert legal advice on Labor Relations matters to senior staff and managers.
• Represent the Authority in disciplinary cases and trials; determine litigation strategy.
• Advise on discipline, labor issues, civil service law, contract interpretations, and policy formation.
• Review legislation and communicate the Authority's position to the legislative team.
• Attend and contribute to collective bargaining negotiations and related meetings.
• Draft disciplinary charges, propose settlements, and respond to information requests (FOIL).
• Address issues to resolve grievances or avoid litigation and maintain unions communications.
