• Support patients with pain management, including non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic methods.
• Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care.
• Respond to emergencies using clinical judgment per protocols.
• Maintain sterile, safe environment in the unit.
• Communicate clearly with colleagues, patients, and families.

Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) - Summary

• Provide expert nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period
• Monitor fetal and maternal health, recognizing and responding to complications
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care
• Educate and support patients and families through the childbirth process
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to all regulatory guidelines

Duties & Responsibilities

• Administer medications and manage intravenous lines as ordered by physicians
• Assist physicians and certified nurse midwives during labor, delivery, and surgical procedures
• Support patients through pain management methods, including non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic interventions
• Educate patients and families on the labor and delivery process, postpartum care, and newborn care
• Respond quickly to emergencies, utilizing clinical judgment and adhering to established protocols
• Maintain a sterile and safe environment in the labor and delivery unit
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and family members

Qualifications & Requirements

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, meeting all state and federal regulations
• Minimum of one year of recent experience in labor and delivery nursing preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred
• Strong clinical skills and the ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
