Job summary

HCA Healthcare's TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna, TN is seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse for PRN shifts to support patient care across the hospital's maternity services.

The RN will provide direct patient care within the scope of practice, apply therapeutic communication, ensure patient safety, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to meet obstetric and neonatal needs. Current TN nursing licensure and BLS/ACLS/NRP as required are essential.

Qualifications

• RN license in good standing.
• 1 year of RN experience preferred in Labor and Delivery.
• BLS—required; ACLS, NRP within designated timelines.
• AWHONN basic/intermediate/advanced within one year.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in labor and delivery.
• Utilize therapeutic communication and maintain a safe environment.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team to meet patient needs.
• Respond to requests and assist in staff education as needed.

**Labor and Delivery Nurse**

**The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.**

**Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintains a safe therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. Registered Nurse plans individualized patient care while utilizing an interdisciplinary approach. Participates in performance improvement activities. Provides care and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission and vision statement.**

**When acting in charge nurse role, registered nurses are responsible for day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment. Make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity and the skill of the staff. Serve as role models and clinical resource for the staff. Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff or patient issues.**

**What you will do in this role:**

• **You must demonstrate age specific knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment and care of patients.**

• **You will utilize the nursing process for individual care to meet needs of patients and document all patient care.**

• **Your role demonstrates the ability to perform technical skills, follow procedures, and show critical thinking.**

• You will provide care and coordinate participation that fosters the goals of the hospital's mission and vision statement.

**What qualifications you will need:**

• **Your degree from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (B.S. or A.S.)**

• **1 year of RN experience**

• Labor and Delivery experience Required for PRN positions

• **BLS**

• **ACLS Required within 6 months**

• NRP Required within 6 months

• AWHONN basic, intermediate and advanced within one year

• **CPI Training & Certification required within 6 months**

• **Current licensure by Tennessee Board of Nursing or Compact State**
