Job description

Bring leadership to life as the Labor and Delivery Nurse Manager, shaping exceptional maternity care while guiding a talented team through an exciting era of growth!

The Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery will join a trusted community hospital that is investing in the continued growth of its women’s health services. Within this 150-bed acute care facility, the nurse leader will have a meaningful voice in clinical practice, quality improvement, staff development, and future program expansion. A supportive leadership team, strong collaboration across departments, and opportunities for ongoing education make this an ideal setting for an experienced leader who is passionate about improving care for mothers and newborns.

The Nurse Manager of Obstetrics will oversee comprehensive maternity care supported by a dedicated labor and delivery unit, certified nurse-midwives, lactation services, private labor and recovery rooms, OB care, C-section services, doula support, maternal-fetal medicine, and access to a Level III NICU for higher-risk pregnancies. The Mother Baby, Obstetrics, and Women’s Health programs are also preparing for a new consolidated labor-and-delivery and postpartum unit with private rooms and showers as part of the hospital’s expansion.

The Mother Baby Nurse Manager will report to a senior nursing executive and receive support from hospital leadership, physicians, certified nurse-midwives, educators, and operational partners. Responsibilities will include staffing and scheduling, budget oversight, quality and safety initiatives, regulatory readiness, performance improvement, employee engagement, and the professional development of friendly nurses. Working alongside a diverse team of healthcare professionals, this leader will foster open communication, accountability, collaboration, and consistently excellent outcomes for mothers, newborns, and families.

The Women’s Health Nurse Manager will enjoy life on California’s Central Coast, where a mild coastal climate supports hiking, cycling, beach outings, golf, farmers markets, and year-round outdoor recreation. The region offers scenic landscapes, celebrated local cuisine, wineries, arts and cultural events, community festivals, quality schools, parks, and welcoming neighborhoods with varied housing options. With coastal destinations, regional airports, quality healthcare, and higher education nearby, the area is well suited for both professionals and families. Residents enjoy manageable commutes, a growing economy, beautiful surroundings, and a welcoming sense of community.

The Labor and Delivery Nurse Manager will receive competitive compensation and a full suite of health and retirement benefits designed to support long-term professional and personal wellbeing.
