Job summary

TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center is seeking a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care, maintain a safe therapeutic environment and participate in performance improvement activities. The RN will apply the nursing process, protect patient PHI, and serve as a clinical resource for staff with leadership in charge nurse roles.

You will need a nursing degree (B.S. or A.S.), 1 year of RN experience, and TN licensure or compact state.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (B.S. or A.S.).
• 1 year of RN experience.
• Labor and Delivery experience highly preferred.
• Current Tennessee nursing licensure or compact state license.
• BLS; ACLS required within 6 months; NRP required within 6 months.
• AWHONN basic, intermediate and advanced within one year; CPI training within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within the RN scope and act as a clinical resource.
• Demonstrate age-specific nursing knowledge and document care using nursing process.
• Maintain patient privacy and protect PHI in all interactions.
• Make staffing assignments in charge nurse role based on acuity and staff skill.
• Coordinate participation toward hospital mission and performance improvement.

Job Summary and Qualifications

**Labor and Delivery Nurse **The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. **Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintains a safe therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. Registered Nurse plans individualized patient care while utilizing an interdisciplinary approach. Participates in performance improvement activities. Provides care and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission and vision statement. **When acting in charge nurse role, registered nurses are responsible for day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment. Make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity and the skill of the staff. Serve as role models and clinical resource for the staff. Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff or patient issues. **What you will do in this role: **
