Job summary

Corning Incorporated is seeking a Testing Engineer to execute comprehensive test programs, calibrate instruments, and analyze data to inform product and system design decisions. Travel up to 20–25% across North America is expected as part of the role.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline.
2-3+ years of experience in experimental testing and data analysis.
Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate complex testing instruments.
Proficiency with Excel and advanced analysis tools (MATLAB, JMP, Tableau).
Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with vendors and customers.
Self-motivated with ownership of equipment and testing operations.

Responsibilities

Customer Interaction: understand internal and external customer requirements and develop design proposals using Corning products.
Test Planning & Development: stay current with relevant industry standards, regulations, and measurement requirements; develop and execute product and system evaluation tests, define testing approaches, and generate tools, processes, and test sequences to repeatedly measure key product characteristics.
Test Infrastructure: take ownership of the overall condition, readiness, and functionality of the testing laboratory environment; calibrate instruments to ensure reliable results.
Test Execution: operate project-specific test equipment; conduct in-lab or field testing; troubleshoot issues in real time and provide feedback to steer projects.
Data Analysis: analyze raw test data, verify observations against first principles, summarize findings in clear reports for internal and customer audiences.
