Job summary

ZF Group in Lafayette, IN is seeking a Laboratory Test Engineer to lead lab data acquisition, validation testing, and on‑vehicle evaluations. You will set up instrumentation, monitor tests, and report results while supporting troubleshooting of electronic controls and systems.

The role requires a bachelor’s in mechanical or electrical engineering, at least one year in a commercial vehicle engineering environment, and skills in LabVIEW and C#.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• 1 year in a Commercial Vehicle engineering environment preferred.
• Experience in an engineering laboratory test environment preferred.
• Able to work with electronic equipment (DVMs, oscilloscopes, generators, sound meters).
• Able to set up and troubleshoot data acquisition systems measuring hydraulic flow, pressure, torque, force, vibration, and acceleration.
• Read electrical/electronic schematics and mechanical blueprints.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Responsibilities

• Set up data acquisition instrumentation for product validation, quality audit, warranty analysis, and tests.
• Control and monitor lab tests using data acquisition systems; record and report results.
• Instrument vehicles for on‑vehicle evaluations with data systems for system evaluation.
• Assist in troubleshooting electronic control and data acquisition systems.
• Meet testing timelines for development and urgent tests.
• Respond to internal and external customer problems through testing.
• Travel up to 10% domestically and 2% internationally.
