Job summary

GHD Questa NM is seeking a Lab Technician/Scientist to support senior chemists and scientists. You will conduct wet chemistry tests on environmental samples and perform solvent extractions on groundwater and soil, while assisting in treatability studies.

You will help with field sampling, lab maintenance, and related tasks. A bachelor’s degree in chemistry/biology or environmental science plus lab experience is required; MS Word/Excel skills and strong English writing are essential.

Our field office in Questa, NM is seeking a Lab Technician/Scientist to provide support to our team of senior Chemists and Scientists. This is a great opportunity for you to gain valuable experience and begin developing your science career.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting simple wet chemistry tests on environmental samples
• Performing organic solvent extractions on groundwater and soil
• Assisting in the setup of treatability studies
• Assisting office staff in related work tasks and local field sampling programs as needed (training provided)
• Assist in the general maintenance of the laboratory

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or related field
• Experience and aptitude for working in a lab environment through employment or school
• Excellent organizational skills
• Good written English skills
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
• Good problem solving, analytical, and arithmetic skills
• Positive attitude, good interpersonal skills, and proven time management skills
