Job summary

Phillips 66 Borger Refinery is seeking a Laboratory Technician Intern to join the laboratory team for up to a one-year assignment. The intern will support multiple labs under supervision, potentially working a 12-hour rotating shift including weekends and some holidays.

Start date is anticipated in March 2027 with part-time scheduling around class commitments. The role requires enrollment in an Associate’s degree or higher in chemistry/related science, completion of chemistry coursework, and

Qualifications

• GPA 2.0+ on 4.0 scale is required.
• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s degree or higher in Chemistry/Chemical Technology or Biology.
• Completion of, or currently enrolled in, at least one college level chemistry course.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Maintain a Valid Driver’s license.
• Willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts including weekends/nights/holidays.
• Able to work in enclosed spaces and near high-temperature equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe laboratory working environment.
• Adhere to safety training and observe and correct unsafe acts.
• Train on analyses in the applicable lab.
• Operate lab instrumentation following standard guidelines.
• Use SQC trends to evaluate instrument accuracy and take corrective action if needed.
• Prepare standards and standardize solutions for analyses.
• Log data and calculate results using spreadsheets.
• Maintain and increase technical knowledge.
• Work independently and as part of a team to meet objectives.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues.
