Job summary

Cordant Health Solutions is seeking a Lab Technician to support Laboratory Operations in Indianapolis, IN. Typical shift is Monday to Friday, 10am–6:30pm, with a pay rate of $16.50 per hour and a $2.00/hour shift differential after 6:00 PM.

The role focuses on routine lab tasks, chain of custody scanning, precise data entry, and sample handling while complying with health and safety standards. Prior lab or high-volume production experience is preferred; a high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a laboratory or high-volume production environment (preferred).
• Ability to interpret and follow complex written instructions (required).
• Strong attention to detail (required).
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a team environment (required).
• Data entry skills (alpha and numeric keyboarding) (required).
• Strong hand-eye coordination (required).
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, bend, and carry as needed.

Responsibilities

• Open sample bags, create accessions and batches, order proper test(s), and apply barcode labels.
• Scan Chain of Custody (CoC) forms with correct orientation and legible documents.
• Verify aliquot volume; may hand-pour aliquots using bulb pipettes.
• Identify and separate samples requiring additional attention.
• Enter client and donor information, noting deficiencies after Team Lead sign-off.
• Transport batches to other departments and manage samples in freezer storage with proper chain of custody.
• Follow all lab policies and health and safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate: $16.50 per hour

Shift Differential: Additional $2.00/hour for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform routine operations including opening sample bags, creating accessions and batches, ordering proper test(s), and applying barcode labels.
• Scan Chain of Custody (CoC) forms, ensuring proper orientation and clear, reproducible documents.
• Verify proper aliquot volume; it may be required to hand-pour aliquots using bulb pipettes.
• Identify and separate samples requiring additional attention.
• Enter client and donor information, noting any deficiencies after Team Lead sign-off.
• Assist with transporting batches to other departments and placing or retrieving samples from freezer storage while maintaining proper chain of custody.
