Job summary

Cordant Health Solutions in Flagstaff, AZ is seeking a Part-Time Lab Technician to join our laboratory operations team. This role supports routine lab processes, sample handling, data entry, and adherence to safety and quality policies.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow complex instructions while working independently in a team environment. Shift hours include evenings, with time-and-a-half differential for eligible night hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a laboratory or high-volume production environment preferred.
• Ability to interpret and follow complex written instructions.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and communicate in a team environment.
• Data entry skills (alpha and numeric keyboarding) required.
• Strong hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, bend, and carry as needed.

Responsibilities

• Open sample bags, create accessions and batches, and label tests.
• Scan Chain of Custody forms with proper orientation.
• Verify aliquot volume; may hand-pour aliquots using bulb pipettes.
• Identify and separate samples needing attention.
• Enter client and donor information; note deficiencies after Lead sign-off.
• Transport batches to other departments and manage freezer storage with chain of custody.
• Follow lab policies and health and safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Details

Shift: Monday – Friday | Various shift schedules available

Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour

Shift Differential: Additional $2.00/hour for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform routine operations including opening sample bags, creating accessions and batches, ordering proper test(s), and applying barcode labels
• Scan Chain of Custody (CoC) forms, ensuring proper orientation and clear, reproducible documents
• Verify proper aliquot volume; may be required to hand-pour aliquots using bulb pipettes
• Identify and separate samples requiring additional attention
• Enter client and donor information, noting any deficiencies after Team Lead sign-off
• Assist with transporting batches to other departments and placing or retrieving samples from freezer storage while maintaining proper chain of custody
• Follow all laboratory policies and procedures and adhere to health and safety standards
• Perform other duties as assigned
