Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City is seeking a part-time Laboratory Technician I or II for the Milk & Formula Room in Food & Nutrition. Under supervision, you will perform technical procedures, prepare and deliver specialty formulas, maintain QA records, and keep the lab area organized.

The schedule is rotating with weekends, located on campus in Iowa City. Minimum qualifications vary by level: Lab Tech I requires about one year of related experience or coursework; Lab Tech II

Qualifications

Lab Tech I: One year of related experience or equivalent coursework in physical or natural sciences.
Lab Tech II: Two years of related laboratory experience including one year as Laboratory Technician I or equivalent, or CLA certification.

Responsibilities

Prepare and label specialty formulas.
Deliver formulas to patient areas.
Prepare standardized mixes of chemicals according to procedures.
Perform duties related to diet plans, observations and records.
Monitor and order formulas to maintain par levels; complete QA records.
Clean and maintain the laboratory area and equipment.
Make inventory reports and report stock deficiencies.
Respond to inquiries from patient units and healthcare providers.
