Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care's Food and Nutrition department seeks a Laboratory Technician to perform technical duties in a clinical laboratory setting under supervision.

Responsibilities include preparing and labeling formulas, delivering items to patient areas, maintaining par levels, and ensuring quality assurance. The role is part-time, on campus in Iowa City, with rotating schedules and benefits.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience or related undergraduate science coursework.
• Two years of related laboratory experience including one year as Lab Tech I or CLA certification (Lab Tech II).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and label specialty formulas.
• Deliver formulas to patient areas and stock rooms.
• Prepare standardized mixes of chemicals per procedures.
• Assist with diet plans, cleaning, observations and records.
• Monitor and order formulas to maintain par levels; complete QA records.
• Clean and maintain the laboratory area and equipment.
• Create inventory reports and maintain stock.
• Respond to inquiries from patient units and healthcare providers.
