Our Client, a Clinical Laboratory company, is looking for a Lab Technician I for their Fairhope, AL location.
Responsibilities:
- The main function of a lab technician is to perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. A typical lab technician may work under the supervision of a medical technologist.
- Set up, adjust, maintain, and clean medical laboratory equipment. Analyze test results and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using mechanical and electrical devices. Analyze, gather, and record test data to generate reports with charts, graphs, and narratives. Obtain specimens, cultivate, isolate, and identify microorganisms for analysis. Examine cells stained with dye to locate abnormalities. Consult with a pathologist to determine a final diagnosis when abnormal cells are found.
Requirements:
- Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Basic knowledge of techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases. Ability to analyze data and accurately document results.
- All technical positions involving complex testing (e.g., Techno Trainees, Medical Lab Scientists/Technologists, Medical Lab Technicians, Cyto techs, Histotechs) require credentialing clearance from the client's Quality departments prior to starting.
- Experience in the core laboratory, generalist skills (coagulation, hematology, urinalysis, etc.).
- ASCP or AMT certification.
- Cerner PathNet experience preferred.
- Blood Bank experience is a plus.
- Educational qualifications: BSMT, MLS, CLS, or BS in Biology or Chemistry with 1 year of relevant experience, or a 2-year associate degree in medical technology (MLT) with 3-5 years of experience.
