SGS North America Inc. in Wheat Ridge, CO is seeking an environmental Lab Technician to join the General Chemistry team on 2nd shift. The role focuses on wet chemistry testing and sample preparation with accuracy to meet daily production targets.

The position offers a $2 per hour shift differential for 3:00pm–12:00am and a pay range of $21–$23 per hour, with standard safety practices and opportunities for professional development within the SGS laboratory network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories.
• Associates Degree in Chemistry or similar scientific discipline with 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Advanced English language skills, basic math and computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis according to SGS SOPs using basic instrumentation.
• Perform routine operation, maintenance and calibration of prep instruments.
• May assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Input and maintain technical information to support lab operations.
• Maintain Laboratory Notebook and adhere to internal standards.
• Perform other duties as required.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO CANDIDATES - This position is available on our 2nd shift. We are offering an additional $2 per hour when working Monday through Friday, 3:00pm - 12:00am. Our Wheat Ridge, CO laboratory is looking for an environmental Lab Technician to join their General Chemistry team! The General Chemistry department focuses on typical wet chemistry testing (pH, TSS, BOD, anions, TOC, etc.). The Lab Technician will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. The Lab Technician works independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. The Lab Technician always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.

Job Functions

• After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS' analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
• May assist with validation and MDL studies
• Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures
• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories or prior experience working with one's hands (Required)
• Associates Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 1-2 years of years' relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)
• Advanced English language skills (Required)
• Basic mathematical and reasoning skills (Required)
• Basic computer skills (Required)
• Ability to lift/carry/push or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

Compensation

The expected hourly rate for this position is $21 to $23. This pay rate represents what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. This position is also available for a $2 shift differential when working from 3:00pm - 12:00am.

Position anticipated to close July 6, 2026.
