Job summary

SGS North America Inc. in Wheat Ridge, CO is seeking an entry-level Lab Technician to join the Metals team.

The position runs Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, with overtime eligibility and Step Up program eligibility. The Lab Technician I will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance with SGS' analytical SOPs, working both independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associate degree in chemistry or similar science preferred.
• 1–2 years in analytical chemistry labs preferred.
• English language required.
• Basic math, reasoning and computer skills required.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis according to SOPs.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate prep instruments.
• Assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Document technical information for lab operations.
• Maintain Laboratory Notebook.
• Follow internal standards, policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Description

This position will work Monday through Friday, 10:00am-7:00pm. This is an overtime eligible position. This position is also eligible for our Step Up program. Our Wheat Ridge, CO laboratory is seeking an entry-level Lab Technician to join their Metals team! The Lab Technician I will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. Work independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment.

Job Functions

• After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS' analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
• May assist with validation and MDL studies
• Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures
• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

• High school diploma (Required)
• Associates Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline (Preferred)
• 1-2 years of years' relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)
• Language Skills: English (Required)
• Mathematical Skills: Basic (Required)
• Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Basic (Required)
• Computer Skills: Basic (Required)
• Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

The hourly rate for this position is $22.50. This position is eligible for overtime pay and the SGS Step Up program. The selected candidate will start after Thanksgiving.
