Our success in the industry is driven by advanced knowledge, extensive experience, innovative concepts, and efficient modification through design and quality control.

At UNEW, we know our team is the reason for our success, and we are highly selective when it comes to recruiting. Our company is made up of all-stars in every department, at every level, and we have built a corporate culture that aims to empower, educate, and value each team member’s opinion while encouraging visionary ideas and continuous improvement.

As a Lab Technician your role is to support dimensional inspection operations through the preparation, handling, and evaluation of aerospace components. This position ensures parts are properly prepared and maintained to meet inspection readiness requirements while executing standardized inspection activities in accordance with established work instructions and quality standards.

The Lab Technician performs routine production inspection tasks using visual and mechanical methods, identifies and reports nonconformances, and maintains accurate tracking and documentation throughout the inspection process. In addition, this role supports workflow coordination by staging jobs, facilitating part movement between departments, and ensuring required materials and equipment are available to meet production schedules.

A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining part integrity, understanding critical features, and adhering to quality and throughput expectations. The Lab Technician contributes to overall operational efficiency and product quality by following controlled processes and supporting continuous inspection readiness within the lab environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare castings and aerospace components for inspection, including grinding, blending, and surface conditioning to meet inspection readiness requirements.
  • Handle aerospace castings and components properly to prevent damage, distortion, or contamination prior to inspection.
  • Maintain awareness of critical surfaces and features during preparation activities to avoid altering inspection‑critical geometry.
  • Ensure all parts are properly identified, tracked, and staged to support inspection workflows and production schedules.
  • Perform routine production inspection tasks in accordance with established procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Follow standardized inspection routines accurately and consistently while maintaining throughput expectations.
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming conditions observed during routine inspection activities.
  • Coordinate movement of parts between warehouse, preparation, and inspection areas to support lab efficiency and workflow continuity.
  • Communicate effectively with inspection and engineering teams regarding job status, inspection readiness, and scheduling priorities.
  • Develop a working knowledge of inspection requirements sufficient to understand pass/fail criteria for routine jobs and recognize critical features and high‑risk areas.
  • Adhere to company quality procedures, including traceability, part identification, handling, storage, and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company quality and safety standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and support continuous improvement within the lab environment.
  • Safely operate grinding and preparation tools, maintain equipment in proper working condition, and report any issues that may impact quality or throughput.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, which requires U.S. person status. A U.S. person is defined as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, inspection, quality, or aerospace environment preferred.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions and standardized inspection procedures with consistency and attention to detail.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use visual and mechanical inspection methods effectively.
  • Ability to understand basic drawing requirements and inspection intent at a functional level.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate tracking, documentation, and part identification.
  • Ability to handle aerospace components with care while maintaining quality, cleanliness, and traceability requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with inspection, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage part flow, and support production schedules in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to safely use grinding, preparation, and basic lab equipment as required for the role.

UNEW offers employees an environment that values diversity, strong work ethics, and provides a highly competitive salary and valuable benefits including 401K matching contributions, health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance.
