Job summary

Actalent is seeking a contract engineer in San Jose, CA to support applications development and die bonding processes. The role involves preparing samples, performing analyses, recording observations, and helping improve process repeatability and yield.

You will work with microscopes and basic test equipment in a collaborative, onsite environment. The ideal candidate has a BS in materials-related field, lab or internship experience, and proficiency with Excel/Word/PowerPoint.

Qualifications

• BS in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• One or more of the following: Materials testing background, experience working with metals, QC background, lab experience (academia/internship ok).
• Basic computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; ability to log process data.
• Familiarity with statistical analysis software such as Minitab is a plus.
• Ability to work in a team environment, follow instructions, communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead engineers in applications development by preparing samples, performing analytical tests, recording data and observations, and summarizing experiments.
• Perform die bonding application manually and automatically.
• Troubleshoot basic process issues and escalate as needed.
• Conduct parameter optimization and failure analysis.
• Handle microscopic components using microscopes, tweezers, and vacuum tools.
• Document processes, perform basic troubleshooting, and maintain repeatability and yield.
• Assist with SEM imaging and other testing as needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of San Jose, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
