Position Summary

The Lab Tech will perform both routine and specialized sample preparation and analysis. The Lab Tech plays a crucial role in a laboratory setting to support scientists, engineers, and the R&D department in the development of new products, and testing of new ingredients and processes. This role involves assisting in testing, data collection and analysis, and general lab maintenance.

NOTE: This position is being offered 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM, Wednesday - Saturday with initial training on the 1st Shift.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with Lab Manager to ensure ongoing quality of raw materials and finished goods.
• Perform day-to-day lab operations in a dog chew and treat production facility, including sample collection, testing, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining instruments within specifications.
• Perform sample analysis in a timely manner, meeting analytical holding times and project deadlines.
• Keep accurate documentation of all sample data and analytical conditions.
• Perform and document daily calibration checks and routine equipment maintenance.
• Maintain records accurately, neatly, legibly, and completely to meet quality and regulatory standards.
• Work with the Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager to ensure safe handling and disposal of laboratory waste according to guidelines.
• Oversee inventory for lab supplies to ensure adequate levels based on sample volume throughout the week.
• Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

IDEAL CANDIDATE SKILLS:

• At least 1 year of experience in an analytical/QC lab role, preferably in a production environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science, with industry experience.
• Proficient in basic lab techniques, protocols, and good manufacturing practices.
• Able to meet the demands of a dynamic production environment.
• Effective time management skills.
• Strong organizational and project planning skills.
• Proficient in Word and Excel; advanced MS Office skills are a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual skills are a plus.

Schedule

• Wednesday – Saturday, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Training: M-F 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM until successfully trained (training only).

Compensation: Pay rate from $20/hr to $22/hr, based on experience.
