Job Description
This position involves performing diagnostic clinical and clinical contract research testing under direct supervision. You will be responsible for preparing samples, managing sample flow, and testing on multiple analyzers to provide accurate customer results. Additionally, you will assist in preparing laboratory reagents and maintaining laboratory equipment.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Perform diagnostic testing on samples using one of four analyzers, handling a high volume of samples each night.
- Assist the sample management team with sample identification, evaluation, labeling, processing, and centrifuging, especially during high volume periods.
- Prepare and maintain reagents as scheduled.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment, participating in validations when necessary.
Essential Skills
- B.S. in Life Science or Medical Lab Tech schooling with ASCP certification or Clinical Lab Science schooling.
- 4+ years of hands-on testing experience with lab samples.
- Masters degree with 2+ years of hands-on testing experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in human biological testing (blood, tissue, urine, etc.).
- Blood banking experience.
- Biology lab internship.
- Experience with centrifuges, qPCR Instrumentation, Gel Electrophoresis, and Sequencer.
Work Environment
The schedule includes Monday and Wednesday shifts from 3 PM to 8 PM and every other Saturday and Sunday from 6 AM to 4:30 PM. This role is ideal for recent graduates or those with flexible study schedules. Training occurs during the day shift for approximately 4 months. The dress code requires scrubs or business casual attire with long pants and comfortable, clean, close-toe shoes. The lab environment includes working alongside 4-5 other technicians and 3-4 sample management assistants. Equipment used includes Beckman Coulter PK7300, Abbott Alinity S, Immucor Neo, Roche Cobas 8800, pipettes, centrifuges, freezers, refrigerators, pH meters, microscopes, and various automated instruments.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.75 - $26.50/hr.
