Position Summary
The Lab Technician is responsible for performing routine laboratory testing and quality checks on rawmaterials, in-process blends, and finished oil products to ensure they meet established quality andproduction standards. This position works closely with the Production and Quality teams to supportconsistent product quality, accurate testing, and safe manufacturing operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect and test samples of raw materials, in-process blends, and finished products.
- Perform routine laboratory tests according to established procedures and specifications.
- Record and document test results accurately and maintain laboratory records.
- Compare test results against established specifications and identify out-of-specification results.
- Communicate test results and quality concerns to Production and Quality personnel.
- Assist with troubleshooting when products do not meet specifications.
- Prepare laboratory equipment, materials, and samples for testing.
- Maintain, clean, and organize laboratory equipment and work areas.
- Follow laboratory procedures, safety requirements, and company policies.
- Properly label, store, and dispose of samples and laboratory materials.
- Assist with calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure records are completed in a timely manner.
- Support quality-control activities and other laboratory projects as needed.
- Work with production personnel to ensure products are tested and released according toestablished procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous laboratory, quality-control, or manufacturing experience.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to enter and retrieve data.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record information.
- Ability to follow written procedures and instructions.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn laboratory testing procedures and manufacturing processes.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move laboratory samples, containers, and materials as required.
- Ability to work around oils, chemicals, and manufacturing equipment while following required safety procedures.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and other protective equipment as required.
Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing and laboratory environment. The Lab Technician may work around production equipment, oils, chemicals, and varying temperatures. The position requires adherence to all company safety procedures and the proper use of PPE.
Education
High school diploma is required. A bachelor's degree in a science field is preferred but not required. Relevant laboratory, quality-control, or manufacturing experience may be considered in place of formal education.
