Job summary

Actalent in Greer, SC is hiring a Lab Technician for a 12-hour day shift (2-2-3 rotation) to perform routine quality testing on raw materials, in-process products, water systems, and finished beverages, and to support GMP compliance on the production floor.

You will calibrate instruments, document results accurately, and collaborate with production and quality teams to uphold safety and quality standards in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of quality, laboratory, or quality control experience in regulated manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on laboratory testing with detailed result documentation.
• Knowledge of GMPs and food safety practices.
• Strong attention to detail and SOP adherence.
• Comfort with computers for data entry and reporting.

Job description

Job Title: Lab Technician (12 hour Days 2x2x3)

The Lab Technician plays a key role in ensuring the safety, consistency, and quality of beverage products by performing routine laboratory testing and monitoring production line activities. This position combines hands‑on analytical work in the laboratory with quality oversight on the production floor in a fast‑paced, highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine quality testing on raw materials, in-process products, water systems, and finished beverages.
• Conduct laboratory analyses for Brix, acidity and pH, vitamin C, turbidity, color, and other product quality specifications as required.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all test results in accordance with established procedures.
• Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
• Identify and report out-of-specification test results to leadership promptly and clearly.
• Conduct production line inspections and audits to verify label placement, cap color and application, coding accuracy, packaging integrity, and process control parameters.
• Monitor compliance with GMP, food safety, and quality standards on the production floor.
• Stop production and elevate concerns immediately when food safety or quality issues are identified.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) consistently for all testing, documentation, and quality activities.
• Use computer systems for data entry, documentation, and quality reporting.
• Collaborate with production and quality teams to support continuous improvement in product quality and food safety.
• Maintain excellent attendance and reliability to support consistent quality coverage across shifts.

Essential Skills

• 2–5 years of quality, laboratory, or quality control experience in food and beverage manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Hands‑on experience performing laboratory testing and maintaining detailed documentation of results.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety practices.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow SOPs accurately and consistently.
• Comfort using computers for documentation, data entry, and quality‑related reporting.
• Strong verbal communication skills and confidence to speak up when quality or food safety issues arise.
• Experience in laboratory work, chemistry, or microbiology.
• Experience with quality control activities in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to perform titration and other routine chemical analyses.
• Excellent attendance and reliability.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems.
• Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC), preferably including real‑time SPC monitoring.
• Familiarity with GMP, SQF, food safety programs, and quality systems.
• Previous beverage manufacturing experience.
• Experience working in high‑volume production environments.
• Comfort with data entry and working within structured quality systems.
• Interest in long‑term growth and development, with opportunities to grow skills and earn pay increases and promotions as part of a planned growth program.

Work Environment

This role is based in a fast‑paced beverage manufacturing facility and involves a combination of laboratory work and production floor activities. The position follows a 12‑hour Continental day shift schedule (2-2-3 rotation), with working hours from early morning into the evening, and may transition to a Monday–Friday schedule or alternative shifts in the future. The work requires frequent standing and walking, and comfort working around noise, production equipment, and active manufacturing operations. The environment is highly regulated, with significant documentation requirements and strict adherence to food safety, GMP, and quality standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greer, SC.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
