Job summary

The Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA is seeking a part-time Lab Technician (up to 25 hours per week) to ensure safe operation of the School of Architecture and Design labs. You will provide fabrication training and ongoing support to faculty and students, while maintaining equipment and spaces.

You will also participate in studio setups, special projects, and events that advance the School’s mission, reporting to the Director of Labs in a collaborative technical team.

Qualifications

  • Experience with physical model-making and rapid prototyping using both digital and traditional fabrication tools.
  • Foundational woodworking experience.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing equipment (FDM, SLA, LDM) and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee lab use to maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment and support students and faculty in prototyping.
  • Provide instruction on equipment and fabrication methods to students, staff, and faculty.
  • Maintain lab equipment, including calibration, preventive maintenance, and repairs; keep spaces organized and clean.
  • Assist with studio setups and special projects, including events like open houses and end-of-semester reviews.

## Lab TechnicianApplylocations: Boston, MA, UStime type: Part timeposted on: Posted 30+ Days Agojob requisition id: JR5150**Job Description**The School of Architecture and Design is seeking applicants for a **part-time Lab Technician (up to 25 hours per week)**.The Lab Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of the School of Architecture and Design’s labs by providing faculty and students with fabrication training and continued support, as well as maintaining equipment and lab spaces. The role also contributes to special projects, studio setup, and events that advance the School’s mission. The Lab Technician is part of a collaborative team of technical staff and reports directly to the Director of Labs.**Essential Functions:****1. (40%)** Oversee use of the School of Architecture and Design’s labs to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment. Provide continued support for students and faculty working on design prototyping and applied research. Intervene when unsafe practices are observed and report incidents as required.**2. (20%)** Provide students, staff, and faculty with instruction on equipment and fabrication methods.**3. (30%)** Maintain lab equipment, including calibration, preventative maintenance, and repairs. Ensure organization, cleanliness, and general upkeep of lab spaces.**4.
