Job summary

Mercy Cedar Rapids seeks a Technical Lead to guide the Laboratory team, overseeing testing quality and staff performance. You’ll supervise staff, review test performance, and implement QC/QMS programs to meet accrediting standards.

You will write and update procedures, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor staff while working within a day shift schedule. A sign-on bonus up to $10,000 is offered.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in medical laboratory or life sciences.
• Military medical laboratory training or equivalent CLIA-recognized program.
• Certification is preferred (ASCP/AMT) but may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Communicate accurate information to patients and staff during handoffs.
• Identify patients and samples across testing phases (pre-, analytical, post-).
• Pursue continuing education and process improvements annually.
• Lead, mentor, and train laboratory staff; enforce quality standards.
• Develop, update, and validate procedures; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Serve as a resource for lab medicine questions and LIS usage.
