Job summary

Sturdy Memorial Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Technician/Technologist for a 3rd shift (24 hours/week, paid for 28). Under supervision, you will perform a diverse range of clinical laboratory tests and quality control in designated areas.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of hospital lab experience, an AS degree in a chemical/biological/physical science or MT training, and credentials such as MLT (ASCP) or CLT (NCA). Some shifts may require Charge Tech duties and venipuncture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–3 years’ experience as a hospital laboratory technician/technologist.
• May serve as Charge Tech for off-shifts and weekends.
• Recognizes problems, identifies causes, develops solutions.
• Verifies results with knowledge of techniques and instrumentation.
• Performs routine and complex analyses for diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct neonatal to geriatric analyses as needed.

Job description

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 28

Up to $20,000 sign on bonus!

This is a 3rd shift position that works 24 hours/week but is paid for 28 hours per week.

Under the direction of the Technical Supervisor or designee (Tech Specialist or Charge Tech) performs a diversity of clinical laboratory testing and quality control activities in designated areas of assignment.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience

• Minimum of one to three years’ experience as a laboratory technician or technologist in a hospital setting.


• May be assigned the Charge Tech for off-shifts and weekends.


• Recognizes problems, identifies causes, synthesizes alternatives, and applies solutions.


• Confirms and verifies results through an in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instrumentation.


• Performs routine and highly complex laboratory analysis on neonatal, pediatric, adult and/or geriatric patients as needed.


• Must be able to perform specimen collection by venipuncture as required.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience

• Excellent command of oral and written English; leadership and management abilities; operation of clinical equipment; demonstrates clinical competence; positive interpersonal and communication skills; competence with hospital-based computer system.

Educational Requirements

• AS in a chemical, biological or physical science or medical technology training with at least one year of laboratory training or experience.


• Meet all training requirements for high complexity testing as defined under 42 CFR Section 493.1489; or 493.1491 of the Federal Regulations.

License/Certification

• MLT (ASCP); CLT (NCA) or equivalent.

Salary Range: $30.04-$46.21

The pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. For annual salaries this is based on full-time employment.
