Job summary

Taylorville Memorial Hospital is hiring a Medical Lab Technician (MLT) on-site to collect and prepare specimens from patients of all ages for laboratory analysis and to perform associated tests to aid physician diagnosis and treatment.

The candidate must be licensed as an MLT (ASCP or AMT) and will operate the lab instruments, ensure data accuracy, and participate in ongoing education and competency assessments within Memorial Health’s standards.

Qualifications

• Licensed Medical Lab Technician (MLT) required by ASCP or AMT.
• Ability to collect specimens from patients of all ages.
• Familiarity with quality control procedures and lab instrumentation.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Licensure/Certification/Registry: Registered as Medical Lab Technician (MLT) through ASCP or registered as a MLT through AMT required.

Responsibilities

• Provides care as directed to meet the needs of patients of all ages.
• Performs various laboratory tests, evaluates data, verify the validity of patient test results through the evaluation of quality control sample values prior to reporting patient test results.
• Obtains blood and other body fluids from patients of all ages, employees etc. as requested by authorized personnel.
• Operates hospital computer system acquiring necessary patient information to enter, delete or credit the patients' accounts.

• Performs preventative maintenance and follows equipment manufacturers troubleshooting guide to solve instrument problems.
• Operates all instruments in assigned areas and performs all technical procedures with minimal supervision.
• Maintains at least cross training in at least two areas of the lab.
• Assists in orientation/training of new employees as directed.
• Participates in continuing education, meets requirements for all mandatory inservices.
• Assists in overall operations of the Lab including cost effective practices and safety regulations.
• Promotes health and safety in the work environment.
• Actively participates in competency assessment process.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Transparency

$24.04 - $37.26. Additional compensation in the form(s) of participation in our annual incentive program are dependent on role. Pay is based on factors such as work experience, education, certification(s), training, skills, and competencies related to the role.
