Job summary

Morton General Hospital is seeking a full-time Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomist to perform phlebotomy and process laboratory test requisitions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drawing blood, entering data into the laboratory information system, and ensuring specimen processing under supervision.

Candidates must possess a High School diploma or GED and have the necessary certifications to qualify. This position also includes various benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage.

## Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomist (Full Time)### Category:Laboratory### Description:According to established policies and procedures, performs phlebotomy, processes laboratory test requisitions. Reviews requisitions for completeness, enters data into laboratory information system, labels specimens, centrifuges, aliquots and loads specimens onto automated laboratory analyzers for analysis under the direct supervision of a Medical Technologist/Technician.### Minimum qualifications:* High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.* Washington State Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist Certification; Washington State Medical Assistant- Registered (or Certified)* Knowledge of medical terminology and medical necessity. Work requires the analytical ability to gather and interpret data in situations where the information or problems are not overly difficult or complex.* ICD-10 coding and specimen processing preferred.### Primary Responsibilities:* Draws blood from patients or donors in hospital or similar facility for analysis or other medical purposes.* Processes laboratory test requisitions.* Assembles equipment, such as tourniquet, needles, blood collection devices, gauze, and alcohol on work tray, according to requirements for specified test or procedures.* Verifies or records identity of patient or donor and converse with patient or donor to alleviate fear of procedure.* Provide clerical support for the laboratory.* Performs morning Lab draws for inpatients. Assists in ER Phlebotomy.* Reviews requisitions for completeness.* Enters data into laboratory information system/labels specimens.* Centrifuges.* Aliquots and loads specimens onto automated laboratory analyzers for analysis under the direct supervision of a Medical Technologist/Technician.* Inventories and requests needed supplies to ensure continuous operation.* Other duties as assigned.### Standard for portrayal of mission and values:* Employee demonstrates and fosters the Lewis County Hospital District No. 1 core values of - One team, on Mission.
