Job summary

Mercy is seeking an Laboratory Support Technician (LST III) to support the provider care team with reports, data and scheduling for the laboratory. The role emphasizes accurate specimen collection, processing, transport and referral, plus limited testing and assisting technologists, all while upholding Mercy’s service standards and HIPAA confidentiality.

The position requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of phlebotomy or clinical laboratory experience;

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: One year phlebotomy or clinical laboratory experience.
• Other: Must complete facility competencies and probationary period.
• Preferred: College level chemistry, biology or other science courses.
• Preferred: Phlebotomy preceptor experience.

Responsibilities

• Accurately collect specimens for laboratory testing using safe, professional methodologies.
• Process, transport, and refer all specimen types and reports.
• Assist technologists and perform limited laboratory testing as required.
• Provide excellent customer service aligned with Mercy standards.
