Job summary

Mercy Southeast Lab in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking a part-time Lab Support Technician (LST I) to assist with reports, data and scheduling within the laboratory. You will perform specimen collection safely and accurately while upholding Mercy Service Standards and HIPAA confidentiality.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED; chemistry or biology coursework is preferred and prior lab experience is a plus. Shifts include days, evenings, holidays and weekends; probationary period applies.

Qualifications

• College level Chemistry or Biology courses preferred.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, timely laboratory support for reports, data and scheduling.
• Acquire specimens for testing using safe, professional methods while observing HIPAA.
• Process, transport and refer laboratory specimens and reports as required.
• Maintain Mercy Service Standards and deliver excellent customer service.

The Lab Support Technician (LST I) is part of the provider care team acting in a support capacity for reports, data and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for providing accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support. The LST I will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service with all internal and external customer interactions. The LST I is responsible as required for the skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens for testing, utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. The LST I will be responsible for all processing, transport and referral of all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required. In order for the co-worker to achieve the competencies of the LST I position they must be observed by laboratory management or designee and complete all departmental checklists for the LST I position. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
