Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking a Lab Support Technician I (Nights) to support reports, data and scheduling in the laboratory. You will assist in specimen collection, processing, transport, and reporting with strict HIPAA confidentiality and Mercy Service Standards.

The role emphasizes excellent customer service with internal and external customers and requires a high school diploma or equivalent; preferred college-level chemistry or biology and prior clinical lab

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED, or enrolled in a healthcare career program through high school curriculum.
• Experience: College level Chemistry, Biology or other Science courses preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in a clinical laboratory preferred.

• Acquires laboratory specimens for testing using safe, accurate, professional methodologies.
• Performs processing, transport, and referral of laboratory specimens and reports.
• Provides excellent customer service in line with Mercy Service Standards while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality.

The Lab Support Technician I Nights only is part of the provider care team acting in a support capacity for reports, data and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for providing accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support. The LST Nights Only will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service with all internal and external customer interactions. The LST Nights Only is responsible as required for the skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens for testing, utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. The LST Nights Only will be responsible for all processing, transport, and referral of all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required. For the co-worker to achieve the competencies of the LST Nights Only position they must be observed by laboratory management or designee and complete all departmental checklists for the LST Nights Only position. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Minimum Qualifications
