Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive support for patient care activities in the Core Lab.
• Receive specimens from all sources and verify proper collection.
• Ensure tests are received in the correct tube type.
• Sort specimens into racks or buckets and load racks onto the automation line.
• Scan specimens into EPIC and relabel as needed; enter orders for outside institutions.
• Process add-on tests and verify requisitions with lab results.
• Call and report critical results as needed; reconcile packing lists and process referrals.

Job description

• Work under the supervision of the section Supervisor and Senior Tech
• Provide comprehensive support for patient care activities in the Core Lab
• Receive specimens from all sources and verify proper collection
• Ensure tests are received in the correct tube type
• Sort specimens into proper racks or buckets
• Load racks onto the appropriate automation line
• Scan specimens into EPIC and relabel specimens as needed
• Enter orders into EPIC through requisition entry for outside institutions
• Process add-on tests
• Answer phone calls concerning results, report faxing, specimen collection, and test ordering
• Process timed urine specimens
• Reconcile packing lists
• Process Reference, VA, ACH, and mail-in specimens
• Scan requisitions with laboratory results from institutional accounts into EPIC
• Call critical results as needed
• Complete Safety Intelligence reports and deliver them to the Core Lab Manager
• Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

• High School, GED or formal educational equivalent
• Previous laboratory experience preferred
• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
