Job summary

Jobtailor in Cincinnati is seeking an entry-level laboratory support specialist to check in and accession patient specimens, enter data into multiple computer systems, and manage sample labeling and tracking with Excel. You will assist clinical centers, handle paperwork, and ensure disposal and regulatory compliance.

The role requires flexibility with Saturday shifts, 0–2 years of relevant experience, and strong accuracy in data entry across systems.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of sample processing and/or accessioning experience.
• Flexible availability; Saturday shifts required.
• Experience in data entry, laboratory accessioning, medical field, warehouse, or Excel is relevant.
• Ability to meet deadlines with accuracy.
• Ability to transfer data between systems using multiple computer systems.
• Ability to follow laboratory regulations and specimen disposal rules.

Responsibilities

• Check in and accession patient specimens.
• Enter data into computer systems.
• Use urine screening logs to check in and record laboratory samples from busy centers.
• Print requisitions and label specimens.
• Use Excel to assign tests to samples and manage samples without toxicology orders.
• Prepare and label glass vials, centrifuge tubes, and IR tubes for laboratory scientists.
• Obtain new toxicology orders from medical providers.
• Update and maintain patient records with laboratory results and medication lists.
• Dispose of specimen containers properly in compliance with laboratory regulations and restrictions.
• Provide customer service and support to clinical centers, answer questions, and coordinate report updates.
• Troubleshoot computer and printer breakdowns, maintain supplies, perform preventive maintenance, and call for repairs.
• Maintain daily logs and record books.
• Attend group and project meetings as needed.
• Complete ongoing computer learning as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
