Job summary

Abcam, a Danaher operating company in Waltham, MA, seeks a Lab Support Technician to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient lab environments on-site. You will autoclave, wash glass, prepare buffers/media, and manage PPE stock while collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.

Responsibilities include waste handling, routine safety inspections, equipment upkeep, and accurate record-keeping. This on-site role reports to the Lab Support Manager in the Workplace Team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, hands-on experience in a support role within laboratory, safety, facilities, or general workplace operations.
• Good organizational and communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks, work with vendors, and keep clear and accurate records.
• Proficiency with standard office tools and comfort working in an on-site, customer-facing environment.

• Support lab safety and compliance activities by managing chemical and biological waste, and completing routine inspections of safety equipment such as eyewash stations and safety showers.
• Assist with equipment upkeep and service coordination, including basic preventative maintenance tasks, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support lab operations.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure labs remain operationally ready.

The Lab Support Technician supports the daily operations of the Waltham site by providing hands‑on laboratory support services to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient lab environments. This role assists with routine lab activities, including autoclaving, glasswashing, buffer and media preparation, PPE restocking, waste handling, EHS support, and basic equipment upkeep. The technician works closely with internal teams and external vendors to coordinate support activities, maintain accurate records, and ensure labs are operationally ready. This position plays a key role in maintaining lab standards and contributing to consistent, reliable lab operations. This position reports to the Lab Support Manager and is part of the Workplace Team located in Waltham, MA and will be an on‑site full‑time role.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, with hands‑on experience in a support role within laboratory, safety, facilities, or general workplace operations.
• Good organizational and communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks, work with vendors, and keep clear and accurate records.
• Proficiency with standard office tools (such as email, calendars, spreadsheets, and ticketing systems) and comfort working in an on‑site, customer‑facing environment.

Preferred Experience

• Basic lab bench skills or hands‑on experience in a laboratory environment.
• Familiarity with lab safety practices, including biological material handling.
• Experience tracking or managing inventory, supplies, or stock levels.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements

Ability to reliably travel to the work site and arrive on time to support scheduled lab operations, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Ability to perform physical tasks required for the role, including routinely lifting up to 15 lbs and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Ability to stand and move throughout the workday based on operational needs, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Salary

The salary for this role is $25.06 per hour. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
