Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Lab Support Tech (LST I) in Fort Smith, AR to support reports, data, and scheduling within the laboratory team. You will provide accurate, timely laboratory support while delivering excellent customer service in line with Mercy Signature Service.

Responsibilities include specimen collection and processing, transport and referral of specimens and reports, and ensuring HIPAA confidentiality and adherence to lab policies during daily operations and a probationary period.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS within 6 months of hire.
• Successful completion of probationary period; no active disciplinary actions or active performance improvement plans.
• Preferred: College level Chemistry, Biology or other Science courses.
• Preferred experience in a clinical laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, timely, and effective laboratory support for reports, data, and scheduling within the laboratory.
• Acquire laboratory specimens for testing using safe, accurate, and professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality.
• Process, transport, and refer all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required.
• Ensure service standards are met through excellent customer service in interactions with internal and external customers.

TheLab Support Technician (LST I) is part of the provider care team acting in a support capacity for reports, data and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for providing accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support. The LST I will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service with all internal and external customer interactions. The LST I is responsible as required for the skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens for testing, utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. The LST I will be responsible for all processing, transport and referral of all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required. In order for the co-worker to achieve the competencies of the LST I position they must be observed by laboratory management or designee and complete all departmental checklists for the LST I position.Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
