Job summary

University of California, Davis is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II to provide basic support in Shipping/Receiving and other departments at the Turlock Laboratory. Under supervision, you will enter client/animal/specimen information, assign tests, and retrieve results using LIMS, while handling specimen processing, labeling, and preparation for shipment.

You will also manage biohazardous waste disposal, autoclave and glassware support, and assist in other departments as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience providing excellent customer service to clients.
• Experience in veterinary/medical laboratory settings and handling specimens.
• Ability to track samples and data sheets accurately.
• Knowledge of quality control in diagnostic laboratories and proper labeling of received specimens.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency with Windows-based word processors, spreadsheets, and databases.

Responsibilities

• 40% dedicated to processing and assigning specimens.
• 20% glassware, laundry, and autoclave support.
• 10% laboratory maintenance and multi-laboratory support.
