Job summary

Mission Hospital McDowell in Marion, NC is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant II to support laboratory testing and patient care. You will handle clerical tasks, specimen accessioning and processing, and perform phlebotomy as needed, while assisting with waived testing under supervision.

The role involves serving as a liaison between patients, physicians and nursing staff, ensuring accurate sample handling and timely communications within the lab environment.

Qualifications

• Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Preferred Education: Associates Degree
• Preferred License: ASPT or ASCP Certification
• Required Experience: Health care setting as Laboratory assistant, Phlebotomist or Clerk
• Preferred Experience: 1 year experience in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory testing support in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Handles clerical and computer functions related to the lab.
• Accessioning and processing of specimens.
• Performs phlebotomy techniques and assists with specimen collections.
• Performs specified waived testing as required.
• Acts as liaison between patients, physicians and nursing staff and the laboratory.
