Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Lab Associate I in Springfield, MO, working Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This non-licensed position provides general support for the laboratory in accordance with policies and procedures, including sample prep, labeling, handling, and data entry.

The role involves assisting licensed personnel, maintaining equipment, monitoring reagents and records, and ensuring safety and cleanliness in lab areas.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of operating non-complex equipment.
• 1–2 years of laboratory experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Some college courses (2–3 years) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and organizes samples for testing, e.g., sample racking, aliquoting and tube preparation.
• Responsible for labeling, handling, processing or preparation, and transportation and storage of specimens.
• Identifies sample problems and assists in resolving appropriately.
• Prepares testing equipment and assists with preventive maintenance; notifies staff of equipment problems.
• Assists licensed personnel (CA only) or delegated supervisor (non-CA) in pre-analytic and post-analytic testing activities.
• Prepares pre-analytical reagents and controls using automated or fixed volume devices; submits documentation for approval to use.
• Maintains complete records of reagents or media using established procedures.
• Maintains inventory of consumables; orders, unpacks, logs, dates and stores reagents/supplies; rotates stock.
• Sorts and accessioning of specimens into LIS and delivers to testing.
• Performs data entry or transcribes results for data reduction and prepares for review.
• Tallies workload data and prepares reports.
• Assists in quality control procedures and prepares protocols/logs.
• Answers phones and maintains confidentiality of client information.
