Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a skilled laboratory technician to accurately receive and accession specimens, ensuring integrity and correct labeling. You will locate patient orders in the LIS/HIS system, perform centrifugation and aliquoting as part of the workflow, and support timely reporting.

The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, a high school diploma, and NJDOH training for Specimen Processing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Training in Specimen Processing, NJDOH Certification for Packaging and Shipping Division 6.2 Hazardous Materials (Biological substances A and B).
• Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive and accession a variety of specimens and determine integrity per labeling and rejection criteria.
• Locate patient orders in LIS/HIS and accession specimens.
• Process specimens including centrifugation and aliquoting as required.
• Provide timely distribution of specimens to appropriate laboratory sections and communicate priority for analysis.
• Maintain sanitary work area and practice infection control.
