Job summary

Memorial Health University Medical Center is hiring a Laboratory Specialist to manage specimen preparation, delivery, and accessioning while coordinating with departments to ensure proper test ordering and results communication. The role supports pathologists and clinicians in providing high-quality patient care, with emphasis on accuracy and timely processing.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Laboratory Specialist is responsible for specific departmental duties including specimen preparation, delivery, and accessioning; communicating with other departments within the hospital regarding correct specimen ordering and correction of incorrectly ordered tests; liaising with doctors and nurses regarding results, specialty testing, and continuation of care at other facilities; assisting pathologists with consultation send-outs, navigating specialty testing menus, and directing appropriate calls to their offices; providing additional assistance for special specimen requests from physicians within the hospital to ensure adequate patient care; daily workload assistance; recordkeeping; inventory control, preventive maintenance, quality control, clerical duties, etc.
