Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Laboratory Support Service Tech (LSST) to join a professional interdisciplinary team in clinic and hospital laboratories. The LSST handles specimen receipt, processing, and testing preparation, and interacts with patients and staff as a representative of the laboratory team.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a two-year degree preferred, and one of: venous access and specimen processing experience, National Phlebotomy

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; two-year degree preferred.
• One of: venous access and specimen processing experience OR National Certification in Phlebotomy OR phlebotomy program with clinical rotation required.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant considered.

Responsibilities

• Collect and process blood and body fluid specimens for multiple testing sites.
• Prepare lab specimens and containers with reagents as required for ordered testing.
• Interact with patients, families, physicians, and staff as a lab team representative.
• Use computer information systems and participate in quality control programs.
• Assist with training and educating new employees and students.
