Job summary

SGS is hiring for multiple seasonal positions and a full-time, permanent role as Sample Management Technician. The job focuses on receiving, documenting, storing, and delivering samples with accuracy to support lab operations.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. Responsibilities include temperature checks, labeling, kit assembly, package shipping, and maintaining thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associate degree in a science-related field preferred.
• Experience in an environmental laboratory preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 50+ pounds frequently.
• Strong English language, math, and reasoning skills.
• Strong computer skills and comfort with digital systems.

Responsibilities

• Receive and unpack sample coolers and containers, documenting materials quickly and accurately.
• Verify and record sample temperatures upon receipt.
• Perform preservation checks on aqueous samples across container sizes.
• Create jobs, enter bottle records, and generate labels using LIMS per chain-of-custody.
• Label samples and ensure proper identification throughout workflow.
• Transfer samples between reception, storage, and laboratory areas.
• Prepare and ship sample coolers and packages.
• Assemble client bottle kits with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Maintain clear, complete, and compliant documentation.
• Remove historical samples and dispose of expired materials.
• Communicate sample details to Client Services and lab teams for timely processing.
• Follow SOPs and safety procedures to maintain a safe environment.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external partners.
